I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again — I am super picky when it comes to my base makeup. I like to have a lightweight base that provides to light-to-medium coverage, looks natural, and has some skincare benefits to boot. Is that asking too much (yes)? Anyways, all that being said, when I give my seal of approval to a base you better believe it's gone through a rigorous testing process. And after weeks and weeks of testing out the relatively new Dr Macrene 37 Actives Foundation* (which I use in the shade Light), I think I'm just about ready to give it a big ol' thumbs up.
With such a creamy, moisturizing texture, you'd expect this little gem to be quite a tinted moisturizer — not the case. Instead, this can very easily be built up to a full-coverage foundation with layering, though I more often choose to just go with one layer and wear it as a medium-coverage base. Anyways, the best part of this foundation is absolutely how natural it looks on while still adding substantial coverage from redness, acne or uneven skin tones. I feel like the phrase "your skin, but better" is quite overused, but I truly can't think of a better way to describe this! This has become my go-to foundation for nights out, because it just sits so naturally on my skin, but looks fantastic in pictures.
Now, with all these amazing qualities, I should say upfront this is not a green foundation. It has quite a few natural skincare components, but in no way does it label itself as an entirely natural foundation. That said, after doing quite a bit of background research (lots of searching on EWG's database) I was impressed enough with the ingredients that I decided to give it a go. I think it's one of those things that you need to judge for yourself — while I am okay with using some ingredients that I don't deem as overtly harmful, others might see it differently, which is totally fine!
All that being said, this has definitely passed by test for a foundation that's worth a try. The coverage and hydrating properties alone are fantastic, but the fact that my skin feels even better once I take it off is something I love, and has only ever been achieved by my other two HGs (Gressa's Minimalist Serum Foundation and Omorovicza's BB Cream). If you've tried it in the past, I'd love to hear your thoughts!
