As the Derm-Scientist^R, Dr. Macrene Alexiades-Armenakas built a 20-year background in scientific research in molecular biology and clinical dermatology. Her credentials emphatically distinguish her in an over-crowded field; she holds three degrees from Harvard:
a Bachelors of Arts (B.A.), a Medical Degree (M.D.) and a Doctorate (Ph.D) in Genetics.

Dr. Macrene spent many years in the laboratory investigating plant molecular biology, cell and developmental biology, bioengineering, insect molecular biology, genetics, photobiology and mammalian stem cell biology. As Director of her own Research Clinic and Private Practice in Laser and Aesthetic Dermatology on Park Avenue in New York City, Dr. Macrene conducts clinical trials in dermatology and laser surgery, and has a prestigious practice in dermatology.

Her varied scientific and clinical background allows her to bridge the science behind new molecules to their clinical results on real people. She is the master at identifying and evaluating new active molecules that emerge, and has the knowledge and judgment to predict safety issues far in advance.

She is Double Board-Certified in Dermatology in both the United States and Europe and consults for large companies in skincare, such as to L’Oréal Paris with whom she developed an acne skincare line. In ongoing care for her dermatologic patients, she is able to observe and follow-up first-hand whether a particular ingredient works and is well-tolerated by patients in the long-term. Additionally, Dr. Macrene has numerous publications and discoveries in the fields of dermatology and laser surgery, and her practice and academic work are on the cutting edge of laser technology and skin rejuvenation.
